Happy New Year and welcome to 2025! 🎉
There’s something magical about a fresh start. It’s the perfect time to reflect on the past year, reset our intentions, and step into the future with purpose. Here at STYLISA, it's all about growth, empowerment, and living more intentionally — in fashion, finances, and beyond.
If 2024 was the year of thoughtful change, 2025 is the year of bold action. It’s time to take everything we’ve learned about sustainability, financial freedom, and personal style and turn it into something tangible. This year, I’m doubling down on my commitment to help you live with greater clarity, purpose, and confidence — and, of course, look fabulous while doing it.
So, grab a cup of tea, settle in, and let’s explore what 2025 has in store for you, for STYLISA, and for the growing movement towards sustainable, empowered living.
And here's a little video to remind you to take action...
Step 1: Start with Intention, Not Perfection
First things first: ditch the pressure to be perfect. Nobody ever achieved greatness by expecting flawlessness from the start. Instead, focus on intention. Ask yourself:
What matters most to me this year?
What do I want to experience, learn, or create?
How can I make small, consistent changes that align with my values?
If one of your intentions is to shop more sustainably, don’t aim to overhaul your entire wardrobe in January. Instead, commit to wearing what you already own more often or try the 'Rule of 5' — a simple concept where you only purchase five key items per year. By narrowing your focus, you avoid overwhelm and make more deliberate choices.
If your goal is financial empowerment, think about small shifts that make a big difference, like rethinking impulse buys or finding ways to monetise your wardrobe. (More on that later!)
Step 2: Refresh Your Wardrobe Without Buying Anything
Before you rush to "add to basket," take a look at what you already own. So many of us underestimate the power of "shopping our wardrobes." This year, challenge yourself to rediscover the pieces you’ve already invested in.
Here’s how to breathe new life into your wardrobe:
Reorganise Your Wardrobe – Move seasonal pieces to the front, fold away what you’re not wearing, and see what items catch your eye.
Get Creative with Styling – That dress you wore to a wedding? Layer it with a turtleneck, add a belt, or wear it with trainers for a casual look.
Set Up a Clothing Swap – Invite friends or family to swap items, so you get the feeling of “new” without spending a penny.
If you're craving something fresh, consider renting for big events instead of buying. Platforms like HURR, By Rotation, and Hirestreet make it easier than ever to access designer pieces without the commitment (or the waste).
Pro Tip: Write down three outfits you want to try from what you already own. Snap a photo of yourself in each and save it to your phone for easy reference. This makes daily styling a breeze.
Step 3: Commit to Smarter Shopping Habits
If you’re ready to shop, do it smarter, not faster. Here’s how:
1. Try the 'Rule of 5' Challenge
If you’re new to this concept, it’s simple: Buy only five key items this year. This forces you to think more carefully about each purchase, ensuring that every piece is versatile, high quality, and genuinely loved. It’s a game-changer for your wallet and your wardrobe.
2. Think Quality Over Quantity
Instead of chasing fast fashion trends, aim to invest in timeless, high-quality pieces. A well-made coat, a sturdy pair of boots, or a classic handbag will last you for years, saving you money in the long run.
3. Ask Yourself These Questions Before You Buy
Do I really need this?
Can I wear it 30 times or more? (If not, it’s probably not worth it.)
Does it fit with the rest of my wardrobe?
These three simple questions can stop a spur-of-the-moment purchase in its tracks.
Step 4: Explore How Style Can Support Your Financial Goals
I'm a big believer that fashion and finance go hand in hand. How you manage your wardrobe can affect your bank balance in surprising ways.
Here’s How to Make Your Wardrobe Work for You
Resell Quality Pieces You No Longer Wear: Platforms like Vinted, eBay, and Depop make it easy to sell clothes you no longer love. Look for pieces in good condition, take clear photos, and write detailed descriptions. Every sale is a win for you and the planet.
Monetise Your Style Skills: Do you have an eye for style? Have you mastered the art of capsule wardrobes? There’s growing demand for personal stylists, virtual closet cleanses, and outfit planning services. Share your skills online or offer your services to friends, family, and colleagues.
Master the Art of Long-Term Investing: If you plan to splurge on designer items, think of them as long-term investments. Brands like Chanel, Hermès, and Louis Vuitton retain (and even increase) their value over time. This approach turns your "splurge" into a savvy financial move.
Pro Tip: If you’re interested in fashion and finance, keep an eye out for the upcoming release of my first book “Fashionable Steps to Financial Freedom” — how fashion helped me fix my finances and a practical guide to making smarter, more profitable choices with your wardrobe as well.
Step 5: Join the Movement for Circular Fashion
Fast fashion is out, and circular fashion is in. Circular fashion means keeping clothes in use for as long as possible, whether through renting, reselling, or swapping. It’s the antidote to wasteful consumption — and it benefits your wallet, too.
Here’s how you can get involved:
Rent Instead of Buy – Rent outfits for weddings, parties, and big events.
Resell or Donate Clothes – Give your pre-loved items a second life.
Buy Second-Hand – Platforms like Vinted, Depop, and thrift stores are treasure troves of affordable, high-quality fashion.
Every step you take towards circular fashion is a step away from waste.
Step 6: Set Your 2025 Intentions (and Write Them Down!)
Don’t underestimate the power of writing down your goals. Studies show you’re 42% more likely to achieve your goals if you write them down. So, grab a journal, a scrap of paper, or even the Notes app on your phone, and jot down your top 3 intentions for 2025.
Here are a few prompts to get you started:
This year, I will stop buying... (e.g., impulse purchases, fast fashion, etc.)
This year, I will start... (e.g., renting outfits for weddings, swapping clothes with friends)
This year, I will focus on... (e.g., quality over quantity, financial empowerment, etc.)
Once you’ve written them down, keep them somewhere you’ll see them every day — on your phone wallpaper, your fridge, or your daily planner.
Looking Ahead: What’s Next for STYLISA in 2025?
We’ve got big plans for 2025. From community-led challenges to the release of my new book, “Fashionable Steps to Financial Freedom,” this year is about helping you take action.
Here’s what to look forward to:
Book Launch - "Fashionable Steps to Financial Freedom": My first book was due to be launched this year but so much has happened that I’m having to add a few chapters. As soon as I have a release date, you will be the first to know.
More Focus on Sustainable Living: STYLISA will continue to evolve into a life(style) brand, offering guidance on sustainable ways to live our lives. My aim is to inspire and support you to live more intentionally—not just in fashion, but in every part of your life.
Rule of Five Challenge: After having only bought two items of clothing this year (both were pre-loved purchases), I intend to continue this into 2025 and will be inviting you to join me. Together, we can continue to learn how to reduce consumption, buy more mindfully, and get creative with our wardrobes.
Ready, Set, 2025!
2025 is our year to live with intention, style with confidence, and step towards financial freedom. It’s not about perfection — it’s about progress. With STYLISA by your side, you’ll have the tools, guidance, and support to make this your most empowered year yet.
So, let’s start strong. Let’s shop smarter, dress with purpose, and embrace change with open arms. Here’s to a brilliant 2025. I’m so glad to have you with me.
With love and gratitude, Lisa x
